The J1/J3 buildings clustered along the south dock at Canary Wharf are mixed-use.
On the ground floor there are commercial areas and an entrance hall, on the first floor facilities for the residents of the building and apartments intended for rent are located on the floors above. A total of 760 apartments are to be built within the housing complex.
According to the design of the architectural office, the main facade represents "stacked construction timber" that was previously stored at the site of the building itself.
The facade cladding is made of low-carbon Hydro CIRCAL 75R aluminum using a minimum of 75% recycled material. This is one of the largest realizations of this amount on the British market.
The installation of the unitised facade runs simultaneously on both towers using mini cranes located several floors above the place of units installation.
The average speed of unitised facade installation is 3-5 days per floor (approx. 20-30 units per day). This is a very quick and efficient installation of the building envelope. In order to achieve a smooth installation process, high-quality product packaging and consistent logistics of the entire project are key.
