Headquarters of ENGEL CZ s.r.o., a major producer of injection molding machines and other kinds of machines is an elegant neighbour to CEZ building in Pankrác, in Prague.
A four-floor building is clad with white enamelled glass along its street side. There is no visible fixing. The building with its ground-plan continues the streets Baarova and U Pomníku. The street facade on the last, 4th floor steps back towards inside of the building and so a large terrace is created. The facade towards the courtyard is made of common warm-up system with opening windows.
For this project Sipral assembled and installed all window panels made of Schüco system, enamelled glass cladding, automatic sliding doors, Jansen system internal fire partitions, parapet cladding, teracce handrails and garrage entrance section and rolling door.
The most interesting part of the project was the streel facade structure with set-off glass panes. Realization of their bearing sub-structure that copies the concrete skeleton required maximum exactness so that it would be possible to mount pre-fabricated panes on it. That is the reason why it was necessary to make a very detailed geodetic surveying of this skeleton. There were L profiles structurally glued on enamelled glass panels. On the L profiles the individual glass panes are suspended on the sub-structure. In the non-transparent part of the facade the glass panes are covered with color on the whole surface. The print on the glass panes placed in front of the windows is made in that way so it is possible to look throught them while the facade looks compact. The building looks rounded while its real shape is polygonal, which is possible thanks to exactness of glass unit setting in one level on windows as well as other areas.
