Sipral was the supplier of external cladding and certain interior elements for the new building of Cesky rozhlas in Rimska street in Prague. The firm was required to adapt to the particularly strict technical requirements set by the building’s utilisation. The external cladding is composed of white finished aluminium lamellas on three sides, specially extruded for this building. On the western side, Alcopa composite boards were used, being made without visible screw connections. The facade facing the street Rimska is clad with red Scottish sandstone, which was used here as cladding material for the first time in the Czech Republic. The inset wooden windows clad with aluminium profiles are of Swedish provenience. In the studio part are triple windows (in other parts, they are only double). On the roof superstructure towards Rimska street were installed automatically driven, 30 cm wide aluminium louvers with aerodynamic flap, which alternate with strips of the same shape as the fixed lamellas. The design of studio part, which is placed on special springs preventing vibration transfer, manifested itself also on external cladding, where a dilatation joint also leads into the facade surface. Outer windows are glazed with special glass with metal grid, which is electrically grounded to conduct static electricity away from their surface. The studio and administrative parts of the building are mutually connected by the roofed glazed atrium, which is completed with a glazed wall at its front. The atrium roofing is shaded by an automatically operated shutter canopy, which is equipped with a wind sensor.
